Marketing Communications Manager

 

Job scope:

The primary purpose of the Marketing Communications Manager is to deliver the tactical campaign activity outlined in the Group Marketing plans for 9 niche insurance products. The Marketing Communications Manager also has brand responsibility for our biggest brand, Golf Care and our newest product Photography (due to be launched March 2018). The role will have 3 direct reports initially and the ideal candidate must be able to co-ordinate and motivate a team to deliver a high standard of work in a fast-paced environment.

Duties:

  • To manage the campaign calendars and media plans for all brands to ensure that all work is delivered to the required quality and deadlines
  • To monitor and report on campaign performance for all brands and deliver regular reports to the Senior Marketing Manager
  • Day to day management of 3 direct reports who will be responsible for the tactical delivery of the media schedule and campaign activity across 6 brands. Responsibilities will include managing their weekly deliverables and coaching them to deliver highly quality, powerful comms activity
  • Responsible for planning and delivering all Golf Care marketing activity including the following; email campaigns, landing pages, website updates, adverts, inserts, digital display adverts and partner collateral
  • Responsible for launching and growing Ripe’s newest product Photography, this will involve the delivery of the tactical activity outlined in the 2018 Marketing Plan and working to understand the motivations and behaviours of the Photography audience and adjusting the marketing messaging and channel mix accordingly
  • Ownership of all creative – this includes signing off the team’s creative briefs before they are sent to the Studio and responsible for signing off all adverts, email campaigns, landing pages and collateral across all brands before these are sent to print or launched
  • Working collaboratively with the Lead Designer to ensure the creative workflow is being managed seamlessly through the Studio
  • Writing clear and precise creative briefs for the Design Studio and IT
  • Writing compelling and persuasive advertising copy for a variety of media, including full page print adverts, inserts, digital banners and email
  • Responsible for the management of the media agency who negotiate and buy advertising space on our behalf, including briefing in advertising budgets, targets and signing off finalised media spend across all brands
  • Co-ordination of competitor monitoring, ensuring that the team are reviewing competitor activity weekly and producing a monthly slide deck which is presented to the marketing team and senior management

  • To deliver the Marketing strategy and tactical plans for 9 products
  • To deliver required policy volumes at the target CPA
  • To deliver high quality work in a fast paced environment
  • To work closely with Design to ensure that the creative production process is efficient and the strongest possible creative is produced at all times
  • To constantly strive to measure and improve marketing effectiveness
  • To ensure other departments are aware of marketing campaigns and any impacts they may have
  • To positively contribute to team morale and manage internal and external stakeholders effectively

Essential:

  • Experience of working as a Marketing Communications Manager or Senior Account Manager in a fast paced in-house or agency environment
  • Able to manage and deliver a wide range of projects and used to prioritising a large workload
  • Able to co-ordinate and motivate a team to deliver a high standard of work
  • Experience in managing email marketing campaigns
  • Proven record of managing integrated marketing campaigns
  • Experience in relationship building with key media partners and trade partners
  • Excellent creative and copywriting and assessment skills
  • Exceptional attention to detail
  • Excellent command of English language – grammar, spelling and punctuation
  • Ability to manage competing deadlines and work with other departments (IT, Design, Call Centre) to deliver projects to agreed deadlines
  • Ability to manage the demands of different stakeholders (Management team, IT, Call Centre)
  • Able to work on own initiative as well as within a team
  • Experience of managing external suppliers and agencies and negotiating the best terms/rates
  • Experience of launching and managing brands or products

 

Desirable:

  • Experience of working in an e-commerce role in financial services
  • Good understanding of the marketing challenges faced by medium sized e-commerce companies
  • Strong leadership skills

 

Education:

Essential

Educated to degree level

5 GCSEs (or equivalent) at grade C or above including Maths and English

3 A levels (or equivalent) at grade C or above

Desirable

IDM / CIM Certificate or Diploma
