Business interruption insurance is designed to help cover your sports club or sports business in the case that you have to shut your club down due to unforeseen events such as flooding or fire damage to your facilities. As this could result in a significant drop in income, this type of cover could help to cover lost revenue or ongoing expenses such as staff wages or rent while your club is unable to operate.

Do sports clubs need Public Liability insurance?Sports clubs may be liable for injuries that occur on their premises. Public liability insurance can help provide financial protection in case of a claim arising from accidents such as:
a member of the club tripping and being injured on club grounds
a ball hitting a spectator
a visitor trips over a lose rope or piece of equipment
a member of your club damages a third-party’s property
Although it is not a legal requirement, having public liability insurance can help to financially protect you if any claims arise from a member of the public being injured or their property is damaged as a result of the club’s activities, or if your club interacts with the public in any way.
Some national sports bodies, like the FA or Sport England, may require you to have proof of insurance in different situations, for example, if you need additional funding or affiliation.
Additionally, if your club employs staff in the UK, Employers’ Liability insurance is legally required. Employers’ Liability can be taken out on its own policy through Ripe or selected alongside other cover.
