Yes. Worldwide cover is available as an optional extra and will cover you abroad for up to 90 days per year, including the USA and Canada. Please note that legal cover, if selected, only applies within the UK.

Can I purchase shooting insurance for my syndicate?

Yes. You can arrange cover for your shooting syndicate, including up to £10 million Public Liability protection.

How much does shooting insurance cost?

The cost of shooting insurance varies depending on factors such as the value of your shooting equipment and the type and level of cover you choose. The quickest way to find out the cost is to get an online quote.

Is it a legal requirement to have shooting insurance?

No, shooting insurance is not a legal requirement. However, most shooting clubs and grounds will require proof of Public Liability insurance before allowing you to take part in a shoot.

If my firearms licence is revoked, am I covered for legal advice?

Yes. Optional specialist legal cover can be added to provide up to £100,000 toward legal fees if you need to appeal a firearms licence revocation or require representation during a criminal investigation, provided there have been no wilful criminal acts or omissions.

Do I need a firearms licence to get shooting insurance?

No. It is legal to have shooting insurance without holding a firearms licence. Any rifle or shotgun used must be operated in accordance with Section 11 or Section 11A of the Firearms Act 1968.

Am I covered for theft from my car?

Yes. Items must be kept out of sight and stored in a locked boot or covered luggage area. All reasonable precautions must be taken to safeguard firearms in line with firearm or shotgun certificate requirements.

Does pest control insurance cover my pest control business?

No. Shooting insurance does not cover pest control businesses. However, pest control carried out using a shotgun or rifle is covered provided you do not receive payment and you have landowner permission.

Is paintballing insurance different from sports insurance?

Yes. Standard sports insurance may cover paintballing, but it may not include specialist benefits such as legal expenses, shooting event fees or dental cover that can be included with specialist paintball insurance.

Does deer stalking insurance cover hunting abroad?

Yes. Deer stalking insurance through Ripe can be extended with worldwide cover, providing protection abroad for up to 90 days per year.
