Why should I consider valuables insurance?Imagine accidentally dropping your vintage watch, cracking the glass and damaging the mechanism. Or perhaps your favourite diamond necklace gets stolen from your hotel safe while you’re on holiday. With specialist valuables insurance, you may be able to have the costs of a repair or replacement covered if you make a successful claim.
This will vary depending on your home insurance policy, but most standard policies exclude high-value items such as jewellery and watches, particularly when taken out of the home.
You may also find that standard home insurance policies have a single-item cap of between £1,500 and £2,500, whereas specialist valuables insurance through Ripe has a single-item limit of £20,000, with a maximum combined value limit of £30,000.
A standalone policy through Ripe provides financial protection for your valuables, home and away. Get a quote online today to find out how much your policy could cost.
Should your valuables be lost, stolen, or suffer accidental or malicious damage, you can recover the cost of repair, replacement, or vouchers following a successful claim, up to an agreed value.
Using the agreed value to determine the costs you’re entitled to means you won’t have to dispute the item's market value or depreciation should the worst happen.
“Specialist valuables insurance through Ripe can help provide financial protection should your jewellery or watches be stolen or lost. Should the worst happen, ensure you report the incident to the police within 24 hours and obtain a Crime Reference or log number to help validate your claim.”
