The reason for having 2 monthly payments around the same time is that these are the first 2 out of your 10 monthly payments for your policy.
When a policy renews with the monthly payment option selected, our partners at Premium Credit will collect the first 2 out of the 10 monthly payments from you around the same day.
This is due to the first payment after renewal taking up to 10 working days to be set up and then your payments continue as normal, on the usual payment date. This means that the first 2 payments will be taken close together or even on the same day.
Please be assured that this does not impact the cost of your insurance in any way and you would now have only 8 monthly payments remaining this year.
-
We accept payment either in full via a card payment or via monthly Direct Debit for policies costing over £50.00.
When you choose to pay for your insurance policy with us on a monthly basis, your credit agreement will be provided by Premium Credit.
Please be aware that we do not accept payment via annual Direct Debit.

Thinking you might need to cancel your Ripe Motorhome policy?
You have a 14 day right to cancel from receipt of your documents, or the start date of your policy, whichever comes first. If your cover has not yet commenced, you will be entitled to a refund of the premium and administration fee paid. If your cover has commenced, you will be entitled to a refund of the premium, subject to a proportionate deduction for time on cover, or £25, whichever is the greater, on condition that no claims have been made, are pending, or you are not aware of any incidents which may give rise to a claim.
You may also cancel outside of 14 days, and you may be entitled to a refund if paying annually, or you may be required to pay the premium due if paying monthly, based on time on cover and your policy arrangement fee.
For example, if time on cover is over 150 days there will be no refund due if paying annually, and full payment will be required if paying monthly. For less than 150 days there is a sliding scale, with the relevant percentage of the premium due still being applicable when paying monthly.
This information is fully detailed within Page 8 of the Insurance Booklet.
As per the Insurance Booklet, the amount due at the date of cancellation is as follows:
Days on cover
Refund of premium
15-30 days on cover
70% of annual premium
31-60 days on cover
55% of annual premium
61-90 days on cover
40% of annual premium
91-120 days on cover
25% of annual premium
121-150 days on cover
10% of annual premium
Over 150 days on cover
No refund

Motorhome insurance is financial protection that covers you when your motorhome is parked up or on the road. A policy can include cover for traffic accidents, theft, or personal injury for you and your passengers.
-
The cost of motorhome insurance can depend on several factors. These can include:
The age and price of your motorhome
Personal circumstances (e.g., age, driving experience)
No claims bonus
Security measures (e.g., garage, alarms)
The area you live in
Additional drivers
Annual mileage
-
For the most part, motorhome insurance covers the following:
Fire and theft protection: This protects you if your motorhome is damaged in a fire or is stolen.
Third-party liability cover: This is the minimum cover you need to legally drive your motorhome on roads in the UK. It covers any potential costs if you injure someone or damage someone’s vehicle.
-
There are several things you can do to make your motorhome cover cheaper:
Parking: If you can, try and keep your motorhome on a driveway, in a garage or in a secure car park.
Security: Fitting wheel clamps, alarms, trackers and other security devices can help bring your insurance cost down.
Qualifications: You could potentially save money on your insurance if you have an advanced driving qualification.
-
Yes. It’s a legal requirement that you have insurance if you own a motorhome.
-
Some motorhomes can be covered under car insurance if they are quite small. However, the vast majority of insurers will require you to take out specialist insurance. Contact your car insurance provider if you require more information.
-
Motorhome insurance is a legal requirement if you drive your motorhome on public roads. If you keep your motorhome off the road permanently, then you can apply to the government for the insurance to be waived. However, you will still need to purchase insurance in the future if you take your motorhome onto public roads.
-
If you have out-of-home cover included in your contents insurance, then some items will be insured while inside your motorhome. However, this does not apply to everything and won’t usually cover items that are in your motorhome full-time (e.g., TVs, dishes and plates, etc.)
-
To be protected by your insurance in the event of an accident, you will need comprehensive cover. This cover could also include arrangements to get you, your motorhome and your possessions home is your vehicle is written off. However, cover can vary, so make sure you check your policy documents carefully.
-
The type of license you need to drive a motorhome depends on the weight of the vehicle and when you obtained your driving licence.
If you passed your driving test before 1st January 1997, then you will be able to drive the vast majority of motorhomes without a special license. However, if you passed after 1st January 1997, you can only drive vehicles that weigh up to 3,500kg with a trailer weighing a maximum of 750kg.
If your license is not valid to drive your motorhome, then you need to obtain an entry-level HGV license.
