What does public library insurance cover?

There are several cover options available when you take out a library insurance policy through Ripe. These can include:

Insurance for public libraries

Public library insurance through Ripe can help financially protect your community or public space against the risks it could face on a day-to-day basis.

Whether it’s cover for damage to your stock, or financial protection should a member of the public make a claim against you for an injury sustained on your premises, having public library insurance in place allows you to spend more time running your organisation and less time worrying about being left out of pocket should things go wrong.

Do community libraries need Public Liability insurance?

Though Public Liability insurance is not a legal requirement for libraries, having it in place can help to protect you financially should a member of the public make a claim against you.

The only mandatory insurance when setting up a library is Employers’ Liability cover, if you employ staff. This can either be taken out on its own through Ripe or selected alongside other cover.
