As CEO of Ripe, Alan Thomas is responsible for guiding the strategic direction of one of the UK’s most innovative specialist insurance groups. A Chartered Insurer with 26 years of industry experience, Alan has an impressive track record of driving product innovation, modernising insurance offerings, and scaling customer‑centric brands. His earlier work at Hiscox and Simply Business included launching new product categories—such as bringing cyber insurance to the UK—and helping build one of the country’s first major B‑Corp certified insurers.

Alan’s leadership at Ripe focuses on combining technology, data, and specialist expertise to create high‑quality, good‑value insurance products across multiple niche markets. His decade of involvement in sports insurance also gives him a unique understanding of how to shape insurance for diverse communities of enthusiasts, athletes, and hobbyists. Outside the boardroom, Alan is a passionate endurance athlete and former GB Age Group triathlete, bringing energy and drive to everything he leads at Ripe.
