Government grants for park homes: What you need to know

Although the energy efficiency of park homes is improving, you may find that you can save some money on your energy bills if you’re eligible for one of the UK government grants for park homes. This is particularly important if you own a park home that is more than 10 years old, as they probably won’t be as energy efficient as their modern counterparts.
The UK government doesn’t currently offer any grants specifically designed for park home owners. However, you may find you meet the eligibility criteria for one of several grants available to UK residents generally, whether you’re living in a bricks-and-mortar home or a park home.
Who is eligible for government grants for park homes?
The eligibility requirements for grants will vary depending on the grant(s) you wish to apply for, but requirements may include criteria such as your income or EPC rating. More detailed information on the eligibility for each grant mentioned in this blog can be found on the UK Government website, and we’ll point you towards the relevant pages for each grant later in this blog.
What types of grants may park home owners be eligible for?
- Park home insulation grants: Some current grants offered by the government include insulation upgrades, which can be applied to your park home for free, to help improve its energy efficiency and lower your carbon footprint.
- Grants for solar panels for park homes: You may be able to get the solar panel installation costs covered if you qualify for help from a government grant, which should help lower your energy bills.
- Park home energy grants: Some government grants can provide financial help for your energy bills or can even go towards improving your current heating system to help you move to a greener model.
What grants can park home owners benefit from?
Energy Company Obligation Scheme (ECO)
The purpose of the ECO is to help low-income households improve the energy efficiency of their home through better insulation or upgrading their heating systems (such as the repair or replacement of a boiler).
Who is eligible?
You may be eligible for this grant if you live in private housing, claim certain benefits (such as Pension Guarantee Credit or Pension Savings Credit), and have an energy efficiency rating of D or lower.
How to apply: Visit the ECO page on the UK Government website for more information or contact your local council to find out if they’re participating in the scheme.
The Great British Insulation Scheme (GBIS)
As the name suggests, the GBIS may be able to cover some or all of the costs to improve your park home’s insulation (cavity wall insulation and loft insulation) to help reduce your energy bills.
Who is eligible?
You may be eligible for this grant if your park home has an EPC rating of D or lower and is in Council Tax band A-D in England or A-E in Scotland and Wales. This grant is not available for those living in Northern Ireland.
How to apply: You can find out whether you qualify for this scheme through the UK Government’s GBIS page.
Warm Home Discount Scheme
The Warm Home Discount provides a one-off discount of £150 off your energy bill due to rising energy prices.
Who is eligible?
You’re eligible for the Warm Home Discount if you’re a low-income household (less than £19,978 per year) with high energy costs or receive the Pension Guarantee Credit. The discount won’t affect your Cold Weather Payment or Winter Fuel Payment if you are also eligible for those.
How to apply: You don’t need to apply for this scheme unless you live in Scotland (in which case you’ll need to contact your energy supplier), as the discount will automatically be taken off your bill.
This scheme is currently closed but will reopen again in October 2025. If you didn’t receive your discount for the winter 2024/2025 period, you can get further help on the UK Government website.
Grants for park homes: FAQs
Can you get boiler grants for park homes?
You may be able to get help with repairing or replacing a boiler if you make a successful application to the ECO Scheme. This support is only available to those who claim certain benefits and have an EPC rating of D or lower.
Can you get grants for solar panels for park homes?
Yes, you can get financial assistance for installing solar panels on your park home, although there’s no UK-wide scheme dedicated solely to installing solar panels. The best way of finding out would be to contact your local authority or apply for the ECO Scheme to see what you’re eligible for.
What is the ECO4 scheme for park homes?
ECO4 is the latest phase of the Government’s Energy Company Obligation Scheme and runs until March 2026. Park home owners may be eligible if they have an EPC rating of D or below and claim certain benefits, such as Pension Guarantee Credit or Pension Savings Credit. If you’re accepted into the scheme, you may be able to get the costs covered for energy-saving home improvements such as insulation, heating system replacements, and renewable energy tech.
How do I get an ECO4 grant?
The best way to find out if you may be eligible for an ECO4 grant is to contact either your local council or your energy supplier, and they will be able to advise on whether they are taking part in the scheme.
How will park home owners get winter fuel allowance?
Park home owners should automatically receive the winter fuel payment if you are eligible. You may be eligible for the winter fuel payment if you live in England, Wales, or Northern Ireland, claim certain benefits such as Pension Credit or Income Support, and were born before the cut-off date (for example, the cut-off date was 23rd September 1958 for the Winter 2024-2025 payment).
