DJ Insurance

What is DJ insurance?

DJ insurance covers you if your equipment is lost, stolen, or damaged, both in and out of your home. Insurance is vital, given the amount you probably spend on your mixers, decks, laptops, audio equipment and other accessories.

DJ insurance also provides protection if you perform live and accidentally injure someone or damage third party property. This is the Public Liability element of DJ insurance, which most venues will ask for proof of before allowing you to perform on their premises.

So, whether you’re an aspiring or professional DJ, mobile DJ or hobbyist, it’s essential to have specialist insurance.

That’s where we come in. Our DJ insurance covers several essential areas and allows you to focus on what matters – your sound.

What cover do we offer?

Specialist cover for DJs

With our DJ insurance, you can choose the cover you want and only pay for what you need.

Why do you need Equipment cover?

You rely on a range of equipment to create your sound. Despite taking the utmost care of your equipment, accidents can happen, especially if you’re transporting it around.

If your equipment is lost, damaged or stolen, you could be unable to play and potentially lose money from missed performances.

However, our Equipment cover means you won’t have to pay for repairs or replacements out of your own pocket if something happens to your gear.

It protects your equipment whilst it’s at home, out and about, or in a secure studio. It's simple to arrange and, unlike other insurance companies, we don’t need you to list every instrument or piece of kit you want to insure.

Don’t forget, your home contents insurance may only cover your equipment whilst it’s in your home, unless you’ve added extra cover for an extra cost. With our cover, your equipment is protected both in and out of the home, and can be repaired or replaced with as little hassle as possible so that you never miss a gig.

  • DJs can cover their equipment against theft, loss and damage. We’ll pay for repairs or replacements up to the figure stated in your Insurance Schedule.
  • If an item is less than three years old – and was bought new – we’ll replace it New-for-Old.  We also cover laptops which are less than 18 months old and were bought new.

Why do you need Public Liability insurance?

As previously mentioned, most venues won’t allow you to play live unless you can prove you have Public Liability insurance.

This covers your legal liability if you are held responsible for damaging the venue or causing injury to another person. For example, if your sound system blows a circuit, or someone trips over a wire and blames you for their injury.

If this happened and a claim was made against you, our Public Liability cover would protect you. What’s more, with our quick and easy online quote and buy process, you can get your Public Liability insurance certificate emailed straight to your phone, which you can show to the venue you’re performing at.

  • Our Public Liability cover starts at £1 million.
  • You also get £1 million Professional Indemnity cover FREE when you take out our Public Liability, protecting you against claims that occur from any negligent advice or instructions you’ve given.

Why do you need Performance cover?

Performance cover is essential if something happens to your equipment and you need to get back playing as soon as possible.

Performance cover includes Equipment Hire, which reimburses you for the hire of replacement music equipment whilst a claim is progressing for any equipment which has been lost, stolen or damage, and Equipment Breakdown which provides protection if your electronic equipment fails.

On top of this, Performance cover includes Loss of Earnings cover for up to 52 weeks. This is vital if you sustain an injury during a performance that leaves you unable to carry out your day-to-day profession or perform for long periods, and you need financial support.

Why do you need Personal Accident cover?

If you quite literally hit the deck and badly injure yourself setting up your equipment or during a gig, it’s important you’re covered for the potential costs of treatment.

Our Personal Accident cover makes sure the financial impact of serious injuries is kept to a minimum.

If you sustain a serious injury whilst using music, entertainment, sound or lighting equipment, we provide a benefit for death, loss of limbs, loss of sight or permanent total disablement, meaning you’re protected for even the worst-case scenarios.

  • We provide up to £30,000 Personal Accident cover when you take out Public Liability and/or Equipment cover.

Do you want to play abroad?

If you travel outside the UK with your DJ equipment, whether it’s for fun or you’re performing overseas – it’s important to stay protected.

That’s why we provide Worldwide cover for up to 180 days a year, so that you’re suitably covered wherever the decks take you.

Why choose us?

Our specialist DJ insurance is provided by Insure4Music, part of Ripe. You can build your own policy and choose the cover that best suits you.

We will make sure you and your equipment are protected, and with our Lowest Price Guarantee we’re confident you won’t find the same level of cover to match your needs for a better price elsewhere.

That’s why, if you take out a policy and within 14 days find the same levels of cover elsewhere for less, we’ll refund the difference.
