Specialist clay pigeon insurance
Whether you’re an experienced clay pigeon shooter or it’s an opportunity for you to learn a new skill, the feeling when you pull the trigger and watch the clay target shatter into pieces is exhilarating. Although people who take part in clay pigeon shooting do take their own safety and that of others extremely seriously, the risk involved in a sport that requires skill, hand-eye co-ordination and a shotgun can’t be ignored. That’s why you need our Specialist Clay Pigeon insurance to protect you and your equipment should you want to make a claim or if someone were to claim against you for injury or damaged property. Plus, if you go to a club or to a shooting ground, most shoots will require you to provide proof of insurance before you’re allowed to participate.

What does Clay Pigeon insurance cover?
- Public Liability if you cause injury or property damage
Public Liability is the most important insurance when playing a sport in which you use a gun because it provides you with protection should you injure someone else or accidentally damage someone’s property. For example, if your loaded shotgun wasn’t pointed down and accidentally discharged resulting in injury to someone or damage to their property, you could be facing an expensive claim. Having Public Liability insurance protects you from such claims, allowing you to aim with peace of mind.
Our Public Liability insurance covers you up to £10 million and you’ll also receive a free personalised Public Liability confirmation card, so you have proof of insurance when you attend a clay pigeon shoot.
- Personal Accident if you require treatment
Accidents can happen to even the most experienced shooters. Whether it’s a knock to the teeth that requires dental treatment, or a more severe accident, it’s vital to protect yourself so you get the care you need.
Our Personal Accident protection can help cover costs of up to £50,000 if you have an accident whilst shooting that results in death, loss of limbs, loss of hearing, loss of sight, permanent total disablement, or you require dental treatment. What’s more, we offer Event Fee Reimbursement of up to £500 should you not be able to attend a shooting event due to injury or illness up to 14 days immediately prior to the event start date.
- Compensation for equipment repairs and replacements:
We understand that many clay pigeon enthusiasts will have a lot equipment that may be very expensive, with the cost of guns usually ranging from £500 to £10,000. Bearing in mind the added accessories that go with it, if your equipment was lost stolen or damaged, you may have to pay thousands to replace it.
With our Specialist Clay Pigeon Shooting insurance, your equipment is covered up to £50,000 for theft and accidental damage both inside and outside of your home and up to £12,000 for a single item.
Shooting equipment is also replaced on a New-for-Old basis if the item purchased by you is under three years old, providing it was bought new and you have proof of ownership. Shooting equipment that is over three years old will be replaced on the market value at the time of damage or loss.
If your equipment is lost, damaged or stolen and you need to hire equipment last-minute, we will cover the costs of temporary hire of equipment, so you don’t have to miss that shoot you’ve been looking forward to.
- Additional cover
Worldwide - With an assortment of locations and shooting experiences on offer overseas, shooting trips abroad are becoming more and more popular for keen clay pigeon shooters. That’s why, unlike other insurers, we recognise the need for worldwide cover (of up to 90 days a year), so you can have new clay pigeon shooting experiences without any worries.
Excess Waiver - We offer an Excess Waiver which means you won’t need to pay any excess charges if you make a claim.
Legal protection - If something were to threaten your firearm certificate, we are here to help you with the challenge. Our legal expenses cover up to £100,000 and can be used to challenge refusal to grant or renew a shotgun or firearm certificate, revocation or refusal to vary a firearms certificate and conditions imposed on a firearm or shotgun certificate.
Why should you choose Specialist Clay Pigeon insurance if you have home insurance?
Choosing our Specialist Clay Pigeon Insurance is a better option than relying on your home insurance because it covers you both inside and outside of your home. Home insurance might not cover you for incidents that occur outside your home, such as damage to equipment at the shooting club or equipment stolen on the way to or from the ground. Instead of adding the additional cover onto your household insurance, our Specialist Clay Pigeon insurance allows you to tailor the cover to you, so you don’t overpay for the things you don’t need!
How much does specialist Clay Pigeon insurance cost?
